SINGAPORE: Kok Sen Restaurant

Tanjong Pagar has been getting heaps of attention in the last recent years with many popular restaurants such as Potato Head Club ( as pictured) and other cafes opening shops all around the area.

To be honest, I've been to this area probably less than 5 times. All I know about this place is that it's Man Man Unagi ( click to read my post) is located somewhere here - wtf, 1.5hours queue, NEVER AGAIN. And one of my favourite coffee joint - Nylon is also located around the same area.

Kok Sen is located a few shops from Potato Head Club. All thanks to the Michelin Guide, where Kok Sen was awarded Bib Gourmand, otherwise I would have never heard about this place. Decided to take my parents for lunch since so many people have been raving about this shop. And because we all just really really love Zi Char.
Attempted to call to get a reservation because the last I want is to rock up and not be able to get a table. But wtf, its damn hard to get a reservation?! not because they're fully booked out but rather, NOBODY PICKS UP THE PHONE.
I'm serious, I had been calling them from morning to when their business closes for 2 consecutive days and I nobody picked up the phone. And I'm super irritating,I'll be calling and calling and calling. God knows how many missed calls they received from me.

Anyhow, Thank God, managed to snag the last empty table when I arrived at 12.20pm.
Did my research and have been told that the must order dishes are the following:

Big Prawn Hor Fun - $17.50 (small size).
Also comes in Medium and Large.
Small size was perfect for a family of 3 like ours.

Big Prawn Hor Fun was SO GOODDDDDD!!!!
To be honest, taste wise, I think Fatty Ox at Chinatown hawker is a tad better, HOWEVER, the immediate thirst post ingestion at Fatty Ox really puts me off abit. I did not feel thirsty after eating this hor fun at all! It was really really enjoyable!

Prawn paste chicken (har jiong kai) - $13 ( Small)
one of my mom's favourite dish ever was also very good! very meaty and the shrimp taste wasn't overpowering

Claypot Yong Tau Foo - $15
This was very good as well. The fish and meat stuffing was so generous!

Kailan with garlic - $10

Our bill came up to $58.60 with 2 barley drinks. Isn't the price just SO REASONABLE?!
Will definitely be back for the horfun again!
