After trying matsusaka beef ( one of the top 3 beef in Japan) in Osaka <- read more here, we decided to take it another step further.
This time, we venture all the way to Kobe for a night to try one of the most celebrated Beef of all times - Kobe Beef.
Nick did most of the restaurant hunting for Kobe this trip, just a simple google will direct you to different places, we found that most tourists were recommending Steakland Kobe. Mostly because it's cheap.
But, I always belief that if you're making a trip all the way to a certain place, you've got to eat at least one of THE BEST. I say one of THE BEST because sometimes THE BEST can be a little out of reach ( be it unable to get reservations or ... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ )
There are many " best " restaurants, divided into Sukiyaki, Shabu Shabu, yakiniku etc, but what we were going for was teppanyaki.
Nick managed to find this family run shop - Tor Road Steak Aoyama and we had a fantastic time here ! Do note that reservations are a MUST here! We booked this place 6 weeks in advance all thanks to my trusty Japanese friend Koki. They do speak good english here too, so don't worry about the language barrier :p
As usual, the ladies always gets the most expensive set. Enxin and I had the course menu which was I think 12000 yen, while Nick and Yihan had the 9000 course menu
Best chef ever! 42 years old, Shuhei, single, very very very cute and handsome and speaks english. Master of Kobe beef teppanyaki and teppan hotplate polishing :D
I've come to the realisation.. that Kobe beef is so far, REALLY THE BEST BEEF. I mean, matsusaka beef is good, BUT, it's a little too fatty to google up many few hundred grams. I'll tell you the truth, my stomach was actually not in a good place after the matsusaka dinner in Osaka. I mean, I didn't have the runs, I didn't vomit, but rather, I just felt bloated the whole night because I was greedy, I ate too much, but primarily, it's because the meat was just so fatty and I think my enzymes ( think lock and key hypothesis lol) were just not coping haha :/
