HIROSHIMA: Nagata-ya Okonomiyaki

Our next stop on this trip of a lifetime takes us to Hiroshima.
On August 6, during world war 2, the americans dropped the world's first deployed atomic bomb over Hiroshima, wiping out 90% of the city and immediately killing 80000 people, tens of thousands more dying later of radiation exposure.

So scary eh. For those who know me very well, almost nobody actually because I think I don't even know myself that well haha. But if I were to name someone who knows me the best, it has got to be Nick. Anyway, so I'm someone that is quite full of passivity. haha, During this whole time I keep thinking, WHAT IF I WAS BORN DURING WW2, and I happened to be in Hiroshima and I get atomic bomb-ed. Wow I really hope that I just disintergrate immediately, I would seriously hate to be the one grovelling on the ground in pain and watching my life fade away in front of me.

Hiroshima quickly rebuilt itself. I guess just like everything in life, when disaster or bad things strikes, when you hit rock bottom, the only way you can go, is up. It's amazing how hiroshima looks at present. But looking at this remaining ruins, one can only imagine how difficult things could be at that time.

Anyway, apart from atomic bombs, hiroshima is also famous for okonomiyaki. And I managed to track down a pretty good shop nearby. We were actually gonna have dinner at Micchan, another famous okonomiyaki place, but it was getting too cold and I REFUSE to walk any further! Thankfully... I managed to track down another really popular restaurant !

KANPAI !

We ordered one with pork and the other with oysters. The oysters one was to die for ! So succulent and fresh, it was simply amazing for an oyster lover like myself.
Definitely recommend this okomomiyaki place for some dinner and beer if you're nearby the atomic ruins (:
