KYOTO: Gion Kinana 京きなな 祇園店

Fancy some homemade ice cream made from only natural ingredients?
Then you should never give Gion Kinana a miss!

Here you can experience ice cream made from kinako. What is kinako? It's black soy beans powder. These black soy beans are no ordinary soy beans. They come from Tanba in Kyoto, which is regarded as the most premium of all Japanese soy bean varieties.
Eggs are not used at all, bringing the caloric count to the lowest, YES !

They only have 6 flavours to choose from, of which I'm super thankful, because otherwise I may just explode from attempting to try all the flavours.
The 6 flavours are: Matcha, Black sesame, black honey, mugwork, plain and red beans

THEY WERE HEAVENLY. THE BEST ICE CREAM I'VE EVER EATEN. I personally really enjoyed the plain + mugwort flavours.

The only downside to this place is that it's super difficult to locate. Its on the street on which many historical traditional tea houses and building line along. Haha, oh god, I know that sentence is super vague is does not value add when it comes to assisting you with finding the place. I relied on my bestfriend: Google maps. There will be instances whereby you're doubting if you're at the right place, Stay Calm, Have Faith and Believe in Google Maps.
