" You from China?"
I do also get the occasional...
" You from Vietnam?" ( Can't blame them, since so many of the asians in Adelaide are Vietnamese"
followed by
" You from Japan? " (ehhhh, Thank you for the compliment! )
I get the least " You from Malaysia/Singapore?"
Anyway, Nick always say I have a China face
I really got China face meh?
I thought I only had a fat face.
Hehe, I wouldn't mind if you say I have a pretty China face. Some chinese actress are so gorgeous !
Anyway, while I'm not certain if I exactly have a China face, what I'm certain is.. I LOVE CHINESE FOOD.
I love Shanghai dumplings (xiao long bao) so much that I've specially flown over to Shanghai for them. You may check my post out (nanxiang xiaolong at cheng huang miao) and (nanxiang xiao long at nanjing ) for my favourite Shanghai dumpling restaurant in Shanghai, which also, coincidentally made it to the Michelin Guide :D
Unfortunately, work schedule and finances is not allowing me to make a trip to Shanghai this year... But thankfully, I recently managed to find a restaurant here in Adelaide that makes edible xiaolongbaos (I'm saying edible because I've tried several restaurants xiaolongbaos that are just bad tasting, AND WORSE, they gave me the runs )
I've tried both the pork xiaolongbaos ($8.80 for 8) as well as the pork and crab meat xiaolongbaos, and I say, definitely go for the pork and crab meat ($11.80 for 8)
I like their fried dumpling (sheng jian bao) too. Also go for the shengjianbao with both crab meat and pork.
Their drunken chicken (not pictured ) is pretty good as well.
I remember when I was in Shanghai, I used to visit this cafe which was near the hospital I was attached to almost everyday for tea. They served the best xian dou jiang ( salted soy bean milk with condiments)
The xian dou jiang at Wang-deful is so horrible, PLEASE DO NOT ORDER IT.
Another note, please do not expect a good service. I didn't mind the service because I come from Asia and it's no surprise when affordable/cheapish places have service staff who look like the whole world owes them a living (:
