TOKYO: Gyukatsu Motomura

So I heard that the 2016 Tokyo food trend was BEEF Katsu (deep fried breaded beef cutlet). Basically, it's exactly like Pork or Chicken katsu but beef. And the best place to try it would be at gyukatsu motomura.

There are a few branches - Shinjuku ( lol which I unknowingly stumbled across while trying to find where Nakajima was ), Shibuya x2, Shinbashi, Hamamatsucho and Yaesu ( 3 minutes from Tokyo station).

Remembering that shinjuku's queue was really a sight to behold + I was going to visit the imperial palace, I decided to drop by the branch near tokyo station.

This yaesu branch is really small! Vaguely I think you could only sit a max of 10 people at any one time. Make sure you're there just before dinner time! The office + young people crowd started to slowly make a beeline by the time I was halfway thru my meal ( I dropped by around 6pm)

6 options for the menu.

1) 130g of beef ( no yam) -- 1300yen
2) 130g of beef -- 1400yen
3) 260g of beef (no yam) -- 2100yen
4) 260g of beef -- 2200yen
5) 200g of beef ( no yam) -- 1700yen
6) 200g of beef -- 1800yen

additional serve of beef 130g -- 800yen
addtional serve of beef 100g -- 600yen

I ordered the 130g of beef with yam.

It was so good ! If only I wasn't planning to go for desserts afterwards I would have ordered the 260g! (nevermind, NEXT TRIP IT SHALL BE 260G + ADDITIONAL SERVE! )

As you can see, the inside of the beef is actually still very rare. I think they must have had alot of feedbacks from customers, hence, now they actually also give everybody a hot stone plate to cook further cook your beef to your likely.

Lol, you know how sometimes I'm just out of it. So, I didn't realise that each customer has their own hot stone plate. I sat beside a male office worker, saw him cooking his beef on a stone plate, somehow I assumed it was a shared hot stone plate, so I started cooking my beef on his as well. I think I probably cooked about 4-5 pieces before I realised that I also had a hot stone plate just to the right of me haha.
Oh god, that japanese guy probably thought I was some weird foreigner. He was nice though, he didn't pick my beef up and throw it on the ground and then start to swear at me or whatever hahaha. oops.

Anyway, a must try for anyone who likes beef!

Gyukatsu Motomura (yaesu branch)
