TOKYO: Desserts ( Shidedo parlour @ ginza & Marion crepe & Cafe Crepe Harajuku)

It's not a secret that I love desserts bit Apologies if you were expecting a long list of recommendations, Nick isn't much of a sweet tooth so we didn't really get to try much  ):

Tokyo is known for having amazing desserts, even random shops along the street or at the basement of shopping centres taste wonderful. Okay, actually those shops aren't random, some of them are really famous eg, Pierre herme, but you get my drift.

I really wanted to try hidemi sugino, he is touted as one of best pasty chefs in Tokyo. I've heard that the patisserie makes beautiful pastries and they're particularly known for their mousse cakes. Such a shame I didn't get to teh this. Ahhh, probably next trip this year ):

I had their cake(s) of the day set.

You get to choose one cake from this selection and it comes with tea/coffee.

My strawberry shortcake set. It's so amazing you won't regret it. Very light and fluffy and the cream is out of this world.

Nick had the baked cheesecake with vanilla ice cream. SO GOOD. I'd recommend his over mine anytime.

It's not cheap though, I felt myself getting porter with every bite, but for the taste and ambience and service, please make a pauper out of me.

Harajuku crepes

Well, I've tried 2 crepes shops in harajuku.

The first being Marion harajuku crepe. This shop was recommended to me 2 years ago by some really nice random japanese high school girls and I remember I loved it. Marion crepe is Japan's longest running crepe shop, starting its life as a food truck in 1976 before settling at its current home.

This year, I begged Nick to follow me to Meiji jingu shrine. I really like places of worship such as japanese shrines and cathedrals. There's some " holy water " there for visitors and devotees to wash their hands and drink. It is said that the water is a detoxifying agent, gives you good health etc.

After our shrine visit, I decided to go hunt for some crepes! Saw this crepe shop with a long queue. Well, Singaporean mentality, long queue = either inefficient or v delicious.

Crepes in Japan are just so different from crepes elsewhere, I'm not sure what's the secret behind it. Superior cows making superior milk ????

We had their seasonal strawberry matcha cheesecake crepe.

It was so good after we finished the first one, Nick went " eh go buy another leh " and as I said Nick is never a fan of sweets and he is usually more in control of his appetite as compared to me. So for him to make such a statement... YOUVE GOT TO TRY THIS.
