FUKUOKA: Manu Coffee ( Yanagibashi branch)

We have landed in the beautiful city of FUKUOKA!

We are super excited because this is our first time visiting Fukuoka together !
It's a first for me, a second for Nick. He previously visited this city when he was much fatter :p When he was 16, so that's like a good slightly more than a decade ago.
Guess his age? hahahah

It was a really good flight, really smooth. Managed to sleep like a baby for a couple of hours to recharge a little for the day to come. The only hipcup...
I got into a crisis ):

Shortly after entering the departure hall I realised, MY SOLE IS MORE THAN HALF WAY OFF ):
Sigh, this is one of my favourite winter boots ):
Thankfully I can always count on my trusty Singapore airlines crew. A lovely stewardess by the name of Suraya gave me some super glue to try and salvage my boot a little. Sadly.. Nick didn't do a good job, so I'm still wandering the streets with a " open mouth" of a shoe, waiting for shops to open so that I can make my first non perishable purchase of this trip :D

But yeah still. thumbs up for Singapore Airlines for being so sweet! The crew manager also came up to me asking how my shoe was, I guess news really do travel fast....

Our flight landed at 7.30am, we took a taxi to canal city washington hotel where we will be spending the next 2 nights. Unfortunately as with most hotels, check in isn't until 2pm.

So with my 1/2 sole flapping away.. Oh, it's actually 3/4 sole flapping away now after 1km of walking to yanagibashi market.. Hopefully it wouldnt be 4/4 flapped off after walking 1km back from the market to the hotel....

Was really looking forward to a kaisendon breakfast but what we didn't factor in was... It's the shinnen ( New Year) and almost ALL the shops are closed for New Year break. Sigh, so we landed up at Manu coffee ( Which is a coffee place I was gonna try anywhere) and bought some bread from the bakery opposite for breakfast

The view from the bench I'm typing this post from...

Curry Chicken bread

Egg bread

Ordered a latte and a green tea latte.
Loved how the barista brought the shot up to our benchtop and did the latte art in front of us.
And I also love how laidback this shop is, they allow you to bring in food you've bought from the market in and eat within its premises while enjoying their cuppa.

In case you guys don't already know... you guys probably wouldnt know unless you know me personally lol..
My dad has constructed a coffee corner in our house - there's a espresso machine with plumped in filtered water, grinder etc and my dad has just made a purchase for a coffee beans roaster so that he can try his hands on roasting his own beans.
So recently I have been pulling my own shots and frothing my own milk and creating my own flat white. My latte art is still subpar but I'm practicing hard! Hopefully it'll one day be good enough fo me to put some pictures up!

Photo proof that I am very dedicated to keeping my blog really uptodate this trip :D

Btw, I am really digging this yellow wall with the wooden bench facing the river. They also make a good cup of coffee, so I really recommend you to start your day right here at Manu before venturing out into the market :D
