HAIRY CRAB SPECIAL 2/4 SUZHOU: LIAN HUA ISLAND 莲花岛

One of my bosses at the cardiothoracic unit where I was previously attached to in Shanghai knows that I'm a hairy crab lover, hence when I was over in October last year just to eat hairy crabs, he cleared out a weekend just to take me to the source of hairy crab.

We drove to Suzhou, Jiangsu province, to this island called lian hua dao. English translation - Lotus Island.
What's special about this island is that it's right in the middle of YangCheng Lake ! Where hairy crabs are from !

It's a very small island, and most of the inhabitants there farm hairy crab. Hence... very very very authentic !
All the the hairy crabs "restaurants" there are operated from the farmers own houses.
Oh by the way, you have to take a small boat (as depicted in the picture below) to the island.

YESSSS! ALL FOR ME ! 3 FEMALE, 3 MALE! the bigger ones on the left are the male crabs.

I watched this video a couple of days before I flew over to shanghai.. and... I basically tried to copy what they did hehehe
